Budget 2022: Post FM's Digi Currency Announcement, Netizens Suggest Name As 'Laxmicoin' & 'DigiLaxmi'

New Delhi: As soon as the Union Finance Minister announced the decision to have India's own digital currency, folks from different walks of life expressed their curiosity and excitement for the same.

The Minister on Tuesday, while presenting the Union budget, had announced a digital rupee which will be issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) by 2023.

Following the announcement, many from the field of media and other fraternity took the micro-blogging site twitter and shared some names of the upcoming digital currency which will definitely bring a smile on anyone's face.

India Today Journalist Shiv Aroor too took to the Twitter and tweeted asking the users of what kind of name one can suggest for the India's digital currency. Later, the tweet witnessed a very hilarious and creative reply from the netizens.

Interestingly, reacting over Aroor's Tweet, Rajeev Mantri who is a economist and founder of Navam Capital came up with an interesting name called 'Laxmicoin' as an ode to Goddess Laxmi.

Meanwhile, another user reacting to Aroor's twitter came up with another interesting name called 'Digilaxmi'.

Apart from them, a lawyer from country's apex court, Shashank Shekhar Jha suggested a unique name 'Pae' which stands for Rupee in Maithali.

Another Twitter user named Ambar named it as Sicca which full form says Systemically Integrated Crypto Currency Application.

A twitter user named Sudhanshu while replying to Aroor's tweet named it as Pradhan Mantri Digital Rupee Yojna (PMDRY).

Other people, who came up with a name were Soumya Mohapatra, who suggested a name Rupyakam which means silver coin and it's the sanskrit word from which the word Rupiya comes.
